Bee’s Sauna – Terms & Conditions of Use

These Terms & Conditions apply to all Bees Sauna bookings, including social sessions, private sauna hire, and special events. By booking or attending a session, you agree to follow the guidelines below to ensure a safe, enjoyable, and respectful environment for everyone.

1. General Use

  • Sauna users must be 16 years or older. Staff may refuse entry to anyone who appears under 16 and may request proof of age.

  • Sauna use is at your own risk. You are responsible for your own health, safety, and wellbeing.

  • Swimwear must be worn at all times.

  • Please bring two towels (one for sitting, one for drying) and stay hydrated throughout your session.

  • Remove jewellery, watches, and metal items, as these can become extremely hot.

  • Do not bring glass containers into or around the sauna.

  • Bees Sauna is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged belongings.

2. Health & Safety

Before attending, please ensure:

  • You are fit and able to use a sauna.

  • You have consulted a healthcare professional if you are pregnant or have underlying medical conditions, including heart issues, blood pressure problems, epilepsy, joint injuries, respiratory issues, or conditions affecting your ability to regulate heat.

  • You understand that sauna use increases body temperature and may cause dizziness or discomfort.

During your session:

  • Limit each heat round to 15 minutes (up to 20 max for experienced users).

  • Sit on your towel at all times.

  • Do not touch the stove, chimney, fire guards, or hot stones.

  • Only use the ladle and water provided. Always ask others before adding water.

  • Stop immediately if you feel unwell and notify staff.

  • Be aware of uneven, sandy, or wet surfaces.

  • Staff manage the fire — guests must not add wood.

3. Cold Water Immersion

  • Any sea dipping or cold immersion is fully at your own risk.

  • Winter water temperatures can be extreme and may pose a risk of cold shock or hypothermia.

  • Enter the water slowly and only if you feel comfortable.

  • There is no lifeguard present.

  • At Broughty Ferry, do not enter the water directly opposite the sauna location to swim due to a known rip tide. Enter further along the beach.

4. Behaviour & Conduct

Bees Sauna is a welcoming and inclusive space.
To ensure everyone has a positive experience:

  • Be respectful and mindful of others.

  • Avoid loud or disruptive behaviour.

  • Photography must be considerate — never photograph others without their permission.

  • Antisocial, aggressive, or inappropriate behaviour will result in immediate removal without refund.

5. Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Alcohol, drugs, and smoking/vaping are strictly prohibited in or around the sauna.

  • Intoxicated guests will not be permitted to enter and will not receive a refund.

  • Medications that impair judgment or affect heat sensitivity should be discussed with a medical professional before attending.

6. Social Sessions (Communal Sessions)

  • Full payment is required at the time of booking.

  • Your booking grants access to a 50-minute session, with:

    • 10-minute change/clean-down time between groups

    • Shared access with other sauna-goers

7. Private Sessions & Special Events

  • Full payment is required to confirm all private or special event bookings.

  • Private sessions & special events may accommodate up to 10 people, depending on the event format.

8. Cancellations, Refunds & Rescheduling

For all bookings:

  • More than 48 hours before your session: Full refund minus payment processing fees.

  • Between 48 and 24 hours before: 50% refund minus processing fees.

  • Less than 24 hours: No refund.

Rescheduling:

  • You may reschedule more than 48 hours in advance.

  • Within 48 hours, rescheduling is not guaranteed but may be possible depending on availability.

9. Weather & Operational Safety

  • Sessions may be cancelled or rescheduled due to severe weather, especially high winds.

  • The sauna tent will not operate in unsafe conditions.
    If Bees Sauna must cancel due to weather, you will be offered:

    • A rescheduled date, or

    • A full refund.

10. Group Bookings

  • If booking on behalf of others, you agree to ensure every participant:

    • Has read these Terms & Conditions

    • Understands the health and safety guidance

    • Brings appropriate towels, swimwear, and hydration

  • You accept responsibility for the behaviour and wellbeing of your group.

11. Agreement

By booking a session with Bees Sauna, you confirm that:

  • You have read and understand these Terms & Conditions.

  • You participate voluntarily and accept the inherent risks of sauna use and cold exposure.

  • You agree to follow all instructions given by Bees Sauna staff.
