Carve your own silver ring in this hands-on session, working with jewellers’ wax and professional carving tools to create your own unique design at Off the Rails Arthouse in Ladybank, Fife.
Following Kate’s guidance, you will learn to carve a wax ring template to your own design and size. Once your wax model is complete, it will be sent away to be cast into silver using the ancient art of lost wax casting. Your ring will then be hand-finished by Kate to your chosen specifications. Your finished silver ring will be ready within three weeks of the workshop.
This workshop is perfect for beginners or those looking to try something new. You’ll leave with a deeper understanding of the lost wax jewellery making process and techniques and with a stunning creation to treasure forever.

This session will be led by Kate, an accomplished jeweller with over fifteen years of experience in the craft and teaching, who now runs Bees Sauna at Broughty Ferry Beach. She has been inspiring creativity and supporting emerging talent across Scotland since 2009, bringing her expertise to communities in unique and exciting ways.
Kate’s workshops have been hosted in some of Scotland’s most vibrant venues in Fife, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Dumfries, Aberdeen and Inverness. Her friendly, approachable style ensures a fun and relaxed atmosphere for participants of all skill levels.

Off The Rails Arthouse is an artist-led organisation run on a voluntary basis, offering a space to explore a wide range of arts-related activities.
The Arthouse at Ladybank railway station3 and can be reached easily by rail or road. There is good parking in the adjacent areas. Ladybank itself is a very attractive, typical Fife village, set in the middle of an area of outstanding natural beauty and historical interest, with Falkland and St Andrews nearby.
