CARVE jewellery workshop - Press Coffeeshop, Bute

Carve your own silver ring in this hands-on session, working with jewellers’ wax and professional carving tools to create your own unique design at the beautiful Press Coffeeshop, Bute.

How does it work?

Following Kate’s guidance, you will learn to carve a wax ring template to your own design and size. Once your wax model is complete, it will be sent away to be cast into silver using the ancient art of lost wax casting. Your ring will then be hand-finished by Kate to your chosen specifications. Your finished silver ring will be ready within three weeks of the workshop.

This workshop is perfect for beginners or those looking to try something new. You’ll leave with a deeper understanding of the lost wax jewellery making process and techniques and with a stunning creation to treasure forever.

All tools and materials will be provided for this jewellery workshop, just bring yourself and your ideas - see this Pinterest board to see past creations, or have a look at this board for some other inspirations.

About your Tutor

This session will be led by Kate, an accomplished jeweller with over fifteen years of experience in the craft and teaching, who now runs Bees Sauna at Broughty Ferry Beach. She has been inspiring creativity and supporting emerging talent across Scotland since 2009, bringing her expertise to communities in unique and exciting ways.

Kate’s workshops have been hosted in some of Scotland’s most vibrant venues in Fife, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Dumfries, Aberdeen and Inverness. Her friendly, approachable style ensures a fun and relaxed atmosphere for participants of all skill levels.

The perfect class for an individual or a group of friends to come and learn, socialise and most importantly, make some jewellery! Experience the joy of bringing your personal piece of jewellery to life. It's not just about making the jewellery—it's about having a new experience, making memories and taking home a part of your creative journey.

All materials and your silver cast are included.  

The workshop will run for around 2 hours, but it can vary.  

Due to the requirements of this workshop, good eyesight and hand dexterity are a must.
